PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, Marseille struck twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
