Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'Dawn' for The Big Apple in Inaugural Address

In a first day in office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “transform” the metropolis, promising “a fresh chapter” and an audacious start to his administration.

A Groundbreaking Mayor

The new democratic socialist, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, is the city's first mayor born in Africa. He also made history by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Islamic holy text.
